The University of Texas at Tyler is currently showing the 32nd Annual International Exhibition at the Meadows Gallery on campus, Michelle Taff, gallery coordinator, announced.

Juror Ken Little selected 36 works out of nearly 700 entries to feature in the exhibition this year. A public reception and gallery talk by Little will be 6 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 at the gallery, which is in The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. The exhibition will conclude Friday, March 3.

"This exciting exhibition features new contemporary works from noted national and international artists," said Taff. "This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to be exposed to various artistic styles and global approaches to making art. You can see everything from serene prints and paintings to electric drawings and collage. It's a great experience to walk around the gallery and discover one great piece after another.

"The Annual International Exhibition was originally organized as a 'Works on Paper' competition but over the years it has evolved to include all manner of two- dimensional artwork," she said.

At the exhibition's end, The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Art and Art History will purchase a number of works that will become part of their permanent collection to be displayed around the campus and used for teaching purposes, Taff added.

Gallery hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by special appointment.

A professor of sculpture, ceramics and performance art and native Texan, Little is a nationally-recognized artist who has been granted two Visual Arts Fellowships by the National Endowment for the Arts in 1982 and 1989. Since 1993, he has maintained a working studio and an alternative exhibition space in downtown San Antonio. He also serves on the Board of Directors at Artpace, San Antonio.
