Dr. Jennifer Waters has been named director of residence life at The University of Texas at Tyler, effective July 15, Dr. Howard Patterson, vice president of student affairs, announced.
Waters comes to UT Tyler from Stephen F. Austin State University, where she has been serving as assistant director of residence life since 2008.
“Dr. Waters has outstanding experience and credentials, and we are fortunate to be able to hire her,” Patterson said. “There is no doubt in my mind that she will have a very positive impact on our students’ residential life experience at UT Tyler.”
As UT Tyler director of residence life, Waters will oversee the administration of all university housing and residence life operations. Waters follows David Hill, who will assume the new role of UT Tyler director of judicial affairs.
Before joining SFA, Waters previously served as director of housing and residence life at Salem International University. She also was hall director at Western Michigan University.
Waters holds an Ed.D. in higher education administration with a minor in counseling from West Virginia University as well as a master of arts in counseling with a specialization in student personal administration from Marshall University.
UT Tyler is home to more than 1,400 resident students who live in university-owned Ornelas Hall, Patriot Village and Eagle’s Landing, in addition to University Pines.
