The Barnes and Noble Bookstore at The University of Texas at Tyler will offer a textbook charge program to provide additional convenience for UT Tyler students, reducing long lines at the bookstore, Jesse Acosta, vice president for administration, announced.
For the spring 2015 semester, all students may charge up to $1,000 in textbook charges, plus shipping, to their UT Tyler student account.
“Students will have more time to get their books now,” said Kris Marquis, UT Tyler Office of Student Business Services interim director. “In the past, students who wanted to charge their books toward their financial aid would have to wait to get their books a week before classes started. We want to stress that this book charge option is available to all students, not just financial aid recipients.”
Students can now pick up their books and use the charge account beginning Monday, Dec. 15 at the bookstore located in the UT Tyler University Center. A valid P2 student identification card will need to be presented at the register. They also will need to know their student ID number to charge textbooks to their charge account.
Students may also begin placing orders online at uttyler.bncollege.com. The books will be ready for pickup on Dec. 15, at which time the orders will be charged to their student account.
“When using the student charge account online, students should select ‘Financial Aid’ as their payment option, then read and approve the student charge account messaging. After selecting ‘Financial Aid,’ students should enter their student ID number as the account number,” Marquis said.
Payment deadline for all student account charges is Friday, Jan. 9, 2015. This debt will be treated like all other debt, and students will be required to pay all their bills or create a payment plan prior to attending class.
“If a student has a credit on their student account from financial aid applying, then their financial aid credit will go towards their textbook charge,” Marquis added.
