In honor of their outstanding generosity and support, Suddenlink has been named The University of Texas at Tyler 2014 Patriot of the Year, UT Tyler President Rodney H. Mabry announced.
The UT Tyler Patriot of the Year Award recognizes the enduring contributions of an individual, couple or organization to the advancement of the university and the community.
“This communications company has been a valued friend of this university for many years,” President Mabry said. “Suddenlink’s generosity provided for several enhancements to the softball field that have helped make Suddenlink Field at UT Tyler Ballpark the finest stadium for fast-pitch softball in Texas, and possibly, in the country. We are truly grateful for the support of the Suddenlink corporate family. Because of their dedication and friendship to this institution, students will benefit for years to come.”
Thanks to Suddenlink’s gift, press box seating is expanded and a NewTek-Tricaster studio is installed. These improvements allow the university’s athletics program to have one of the highest-quality online broadcasts and in-game video productions in all of NCAA Division III athletics.
“These enhancements will add to our broadcast quality and game attendance. They will also help continue to attract more quality student-athletes, who consistently express their appreciation for UT Tyler’s modern, state-of-the-art athletic facilities,” President Mabry added.
Suddenlink also has supported UT Tyler with fundraising. As the event sponsor of the UT Tyler Suddenlink Patriot Million Dollar Hole-in-One Contest, the company has helped raise more than $2 million in scholarship funds.
In recent years, Suddenlink has been continuously named one of the cable industry’s top five companies for women by Women in Cable Telecommunications and has been named top TV and Internet service provider by readers of various newspapers in communities it serves across the country. Suddenlink continues its strong commitment to providing superior customer care. The company is the most improved major cable provider, as measured in J.D. Power customer satisfaction surveys since 2007.
Suddenlink traces its roots to 2003 and is currently the seventh largest cable operator in the United States and third largest in Texas. Suddenlink employs more than 6,000 people serving more than 1.4 million residential and commercial customers in 17 states. Approximately a half-million of its residential customers are in Texas. With approximately 1,400 employees, Tyler is home for the company’s largest employee base.
One of the 15 campuses of the UT System, UT Tyler features excellence in teaching, research, artistic performance, and community service. More than 80 undergraduate and graduate degrees are available at UT Tyler, which has an enrollment of more than 8,000 high-ability students.
