Recently Dr. Rod Mabry, President of The University of Texas at Tyler, met with Mr.
Rogers Pope Jr., CEO of Texas Bank and Trust, and other bank officials at the UT Tyler
Longview University Center to celebrate the establishment of the Texas Bank and Trust
Endowed Scholarship.
The fund was established to provide financial assistance to students attending the
Longview University Center.
“We are grateful to Texas Bank and Trust for their generous gift to the Longview University
Center. The students enrolled at the Center are an exceptional group of individuals,
and this gift will help make a real difference in the lives of both current and future
students,” said Dr. Mabry. “Financial issues can be a major obstacle to students working
toward achieving their educational goals, and scholarships such as the one established
today ensure that assistance will be available when one of them needs help.”
“The mission of Texas Bank and Trust’s Spirit of Giving has been to provide a positive
and measurable impact on the communities we serve, in part, through our financial
support of educational programs throughout East Texas,” said Rogers Pope, Jr., Texas
Bank and Trust Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
“The University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center has proven to be a significant
asset to our community. Today, we join in celebration of the center’s growth in making
higher education accessible, advancing opportunities for individual’s professional
growth and empowering students for success in a new economy. In doing so, we believe
this endowed scholarship will serve to create a lasting legacy while benefiting generations
of students for years to come.”
