The next exhibition at The University of Texas at Tyler Meadows Gallery will feature work by UT Tyler graduate student Z. Miles Mayfield of Hamlin, Ray Sikes, gallery coordinator, announced.

“Constancy & Contentment” will begin Monday, April 14. A reception and gallery talk will be 6 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at the gallery.

The public exhibition, which is prepared and executed in partial fulfillment of the university’s master of fine arts degree, will end Friday, April 25.

“This display will contain sculptural ceramic works from the past year,” Mayfield said. “My works deal with communities, groups and colonies and puts emphasis on unforeseen reoccurring anomalies that happen to individuals among these conglomerates throughout time.”

Mayfield shows his work regularly throughout Texas and has works in many private collections across the country along with museum collections in the state.

Upon graduation, he hopes to continue to teach and work from his home studio in West Central Texas.

The Meadows Gallery is located in the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Art Center. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by special appointment.

The UT Tyler master of fine arts degree program provides the means for graduate students to develop as contemporary artists in all aspects of the discipline. Courses of study include extensive critical analysis, research into contemporary art theory, innovative problem solving, aesthetics and an exploration of the artist’s role and interface with contemporary society.
