The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Health and Kinesiology is recruiting men and women for an exercise research study, Dr. Yong Tai Wang, College of Nursing and Health Sciences dean, announced.
Participants must be 50 years or older and have been diagnosed with neuropathy in their feet/legs or fingers/hands.
Those interested must attend one of two orientation sessions scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 in the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center.
Principle investigators Dr. Arturio Arce-Esquivel and Dr. Joyce Ballard, well-known exercise physiologist and UT Tyler professor, will lead the study, which involves participation in a Tai Chi exercise class designed specifically for neuropathy patients. The class will meet for 12 weeks, three times a week for one hour per session, Ballard said.
