Dr. Genie Linn has received the Margaret Montgomery Leadership Award from the Texas Council of Women School Executives, Dr. Ross Sherman, College of Education and Psychology dean, announced.
Linn is an associate professor of educational leadership and policy studieswithin the UT Tyler School of Education.
The award is given to an outstanding Texas educator who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and supported professionalism for women in education.
“Dr. Linn is an outstanding educational leader who has contributed to the development of hundreds of educational leaders throughout the state of Texas,” Sherman said.
Linn is the founding editor of the Journal of Texas Women School Executives. The journal published annually is a forum to promote the development of women school executives through scholarly research and practice.
A UT Tyler alumna, Linn has served the university since 2004. She holds an Ed.D. from Stephen F. Austin University and a master of arts degree from UT Tyler. Linn is a former high school principal, regional service center consultant and French and English high school teacher.
The Texas Council of Women School Executives is an organization dedicated to creating and maintaining a united community of professional educational executives by promoting equity and quality in leadership through renewal, mentoring and career advancement support.
