The University of Texas at Tyler was recognized at the National Model United Nations-Korea Conference held at Songdo International City, South Korea, Dr. Marcus Stadelmann, Department of Political Science and History chair, announced.

The UT Tyler delegation represented China on four committees and received an honorable mention delegation award. Members are Darby Capps of Kilgore, Rebecca Jackson of Big Sandy, Quenton Lowery of Tyler, Kayla Bello of Houston, Casey Clark of Tyler, Hannah Waggoner of Overton and Sherdil Sehgal of Pakistan.

Delegation awards are presented to the top delegations based on teamwork, leadership, speaking and negotiating abilities, knowledge of issues and proper use of the rules of procedure.

The seven-day conference brought together more than 400 students from more than 30 schools to address topics of importance to the international community. Throughout the conference proceedings, the UT Tyler delegates had the opportunity to hone their leadership, speaking, writing and negotiation skills.

The award-winning UT Tyler Model UN Program was established in 2006 to introduce students to international diplomacy and the structures and mandates of the United Nations in a simulation setting.
