Erica Campanelli will serve as the new development officer of athletics at The University of Texas at Tyler, effective Jan. 6, Jerre Iversen, vice president for university advancement, announced.
With this new role, Campanelli will become the first full-time development officer for the Department of Athletics. Serving UT Tyler since 2011, she is the assistant soccer coach for both the men’s and women’s programs.
“In her new position, Ms. Campanelli will work closely with Dr. Howard Patterson in his role as athletics director and the coaches of the 15 NCAA sports at the university, helping to raise funds to significantly boost what is already a very successful sports program at UT Tyler,” Iversen said.
As assistant coach, Campanelli oversaw the academic programming of each program as well as assisted in recruiting for the women. Her main focus this past year has been on alumni relations and fundraising initiatives for the women’s program, helping raise more money in the past two years than any other time in program history.
Before coming to UT Tyler, Campanelli was a standout soccer player at UT Austin. As a Longhorn, she served as team captain her junior and senior seasons and was an All-Big 12 Second Team selection and a three-time Academic All-Big 12 member. Her 88-career starts rank fourth all-time at Texas.
She holds a degree in sport management from UT Austin.
One of the 15 campuses of the UT System, UT Tyler features excellence in teaching, research, artistic performance and community service. More than 80 undergraduate and graduate degrees are available at UT Tyler, which has an enrollment of more than 7,500 high-ability students. UT Tyler offers courses at its campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine as well as a location in Houston.
