Brittany Childs will serve as director of alumni relations at The University of Texas at Tyler, effective Oct. 29, Jerre Iversen, vice president for advancement, announced.
She follows Derrith Bondurant, who accepted a position as the associate vice president of institutional advancement and chief development officer for UT Health Northeast.
Serving UT Tyler since 2008, Childs is the Greek life coordinator within the Department of Student Life and Leadership and has served as assistant director of student life and leadership since 2010.
“Derrith did a wonderful job in all of her endeavors during her six years at UT Tyler. Brittany is just the person to add to what has already begun,” Iversen said.
As alumni relations director, Childs will handle all external communications to UT Tyler alumni, while serving as a university liaison to the Tyler community. She also will oversee the university’s annual Alumni Gala.
“I am thrilled to continue to serve UT Tyler in this role and look forward to connecting our alumni with their alma mater,” Childs said.
Before serving UT Tyler, Childs served Baylor University as the graduate assistant for campus activities and special programs.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communication as well as a master of science in education with an emphasis in student affairs administration, both from Baylor University.
One of the 15 campuses of the UT System, UT Tyler offers excellence in teaching, research, artistic performance and community service. More than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs are available at UT Tyler, which has an enrollment of more than 7,500 high-ability students at its campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine.
