Jennifer Hannigan will serve as special assistant to the president for communications at The University of Texas at Tyler, President Rodney H. Mabry announced.
In this role, Hannigan handles internal communications for the Office of the President, in consultation and collaboration with the UT Tyler Offices of University Advancement and Marketing and Communications, and serves as a university liaison to the external community. She also maintains the Office of the President’s web presence.
“We are glad to have Jennifer on board,” President Mabry said. “I believe her experience in both the media and higher education industries will enable her to strengthen our communications, which will benefit everyone associated with the university.”
She comes to UT Tyler from Trinity Valley Community College, where for the past seven years she was responsible for the college’s marketing, public relations and publications functions. Prior to her time there, she served as a print media reporter and editor.
Hannigan holds a bachelor of science in journalism from UT Tyler. She was named the 2007 North and East Texas Press Association Journalist of the Year and also was selected as the 2013 Faculty/Staff Member of the Year by Trinity Valley Community College Student Activities.
