Dr. Van Patterson has been named director of The University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center, effective July 15, Dr. Alisa White, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, announced.
He will follow Dr. Jack Miller, who retired last year.
“Dr. Patterson will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Longview campus and indeed the entire university,” White said.
Patterson currently serves as vice president for institutional advancement at Panola College.
In addition to serving as vice president, he has also served Panola College as the director of student activities and an academic counselor.
Throughout his career, Patterson has maintained appointments as an adjunct instructor at Texas A&M University – Commerce, teaching instructional training and design as well as higher education courses.
He holds an Ed.D. in higher education administration from Texas A&M University – Commerce, a master of business administration from East Texas Baptist University and a bachelor of business administration from Baylor University.
