The University of Texas at Tyler will host the inaugural “Innovation and Ingenuity in Education Conference” for area K – 12 teachers and administrators July 15 – 17, Dr. Michael Odell, UT Tyler Ingenuity Center executive director, announced.

The three-day conference will be held at the UT Tyler Ornelas Activity Center, located at 3402 Old Omen Road in Tyler.

Cost is $150 per person and includes breakfast, lunch and conference materials. Optional on-campus housing is available for $36. To register, visit http://www.i2ed.org/. Registration deadline is July 7.

“We are so excited that the kind of conference that we generally have to drive to Austin to attend will now be available to the educators of East Texas,” said Eli Crow, UT Tyler Innovation Academy superintendent. “The I2Ed Conference will showcase the newest and most promising practices in education, and it is wonderful that UT Tyler will be the host.”

This year’s topics include “Project Based Learning,” “21st Century Skills” and “Assessing Students in a 21st Century Environment.”
