Dr. Mary Fischer, professor of accounting at The University of Texas at Tyler, received a research award from the American Accounting Association, Dr. Harold Doty, College of Business and Technology dean, announced.
The American Accounting Association awarded Fischer “Best Manuscript of 2013” for her manuscript titled, “Accounting Decision Making: Does the Ethics Course Delivery Make a Difference.” Co-authors were Drs. Treba A. Marsh and George L. Hunt.
“Dr. Fischer continues to share high quality, recent and relevant accounting research with our students. This is a much-deserved recognition of her contributions to the accounting discipline and her dedication to improving accounting education,” said Dr. Roger Lirely, UT Tyler Department of Accounting and Finance chair.
Fischer has taught accounting at UT Tyler since 1996 and served in a variety of administrative roles on campus.
She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. Fischer has articles and research widely published in refereed journals including “Research in Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting,” “Critical Perspectives on Accounting,” “Accounting Horizons, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy,” “Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management,” “Internal Auditing” and “Government Accounting Journal.”
The American Accounting Association promotes accounting education, research and practice. Its mission is to be the premier forum for scholarly interchange in accounting.
