The University of Texas at Tyler will hold a public screening of the award-winning documentary “Switch!” in celebration of National Engineers Week, Dr. James Nelson, College of Engineering and Computer Science dean, announced.
The event begins with a reception at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 in the UT Tyler University Center theater. The movie will follow at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, which are $5 for students and $10 for non-students/engineering professionals, may be purchased online through the East Texas Engineers Week 2013 website, on the UT Tyler campus in Ratliff Building North, room 2043 or at the door.
Presented by Arcos Films and directed by Harry Lynch, “Switch!” delivers straight answers to today’s most controversial energy questions, as energy expert Dr. Scott Tinker travels the world, exploring leading energy sites from coal to solar, oil to biofuels – most of them highly restricted and never before seen on film.
UT Tyler is one of the more than 250 universities across the country participating in the screening, which is a part of the Geological Society of America’s Switch Energy Awareness & Efficiency Program,a multi-pronged effort to build a global understanding of energy and promote efficiency.
The program launched last fall at more than 40 pilot schools with a student ambassador program, efficiency drive and screening of the film. Additional information about the program may be found at www.switchenergyproject.com.
