The University of Texas at Tyler will participate in Día de la Educación for prospective
Hispanic students and their families on Saturday, Feb. 2, Sarah Bowdin, admissions
director, announced.
This event provides the opportunity for Spanish-speaking parents and their children
to receive information about college/university admissions and financial aid in their
native language. UT Tyler and Tyler Junior College are the host campuses.
Participants will meet at John Tyler High School and Robert E. Lee High School and
be transported to TJC for breakfast and UT Tyler for lunch. There will be presentations
at each institution. All sessions will be in Spanish.
UT Tyler speakers will include Bowdin; Jesse Acosta, associate vice president for
administration; Teresa Ramirez, admissions counselor; and Carlos Alvarez, academic
adviser.
Shuttle transportation will be provided.
Program sponsors include Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Business Alliance,
Tyler Independent School District, TJC and UT Tyler.
