As part of the Texas Productivity Initiative, The University of Texas at Tyler Soules College of Business will hold its first Texas Productivity Summit for business professionals and field experts, Dr. Harold Doty, Soules College of Business dean, announced.

The event will be 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 25 at the UT Tyler Ornelas Activity Center and is the result of the partnership between the college and East Texas Lean Consortium.

“We are testing the prospect of developing a Texas Productivity Center to better provide information and resources to the community,” Doty said. “It’s another way we hope to show our commitment and dedication to East Texas.”

Cost is $25 per person. Reservations will be accepted through Tuesday, April 24 and can be made by email at PROcenter@uttyler.edu, or by phone at 903.565.5585 during 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Robert Miller, executive director of The Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence, will serve as guest speaker. He is considered a pioneer in applying the management principles taught by Edward Deming, Joseph Juran, the Toyota Motor Company and others, Doty said.

“Miller looks forward to bringing his insight into the complex role of leaders and the development of operational excellence to East Texas,” he added.
