Dean's Message
Dear Students, Faculty and Friends of the College of Engineering,
The future is promising, and new achievements and milestones are just over the horizon for the College of Engineering. For the fifth year straight, the College of Engineering ranked in the Top 100 Best Undergraduate Programs in Engineering in U.S. News & World Report.
We welcomed the inaugural cohorts for our new undergraduate degree programs in computer engineering and construction engineering, making now seven undergraduate degrees and four graduate degrees offered in the College.
After winning regionals and finishing sixth overall at nationals last spring, the ASCE Concrete Canoe Team has won regionals again and is preparing for nationals for the second year in a row. Sixth overall at nationals is the highest finish of any Texas team in the history of concrete canoe.
Additionally, we hosted our second annual Ratliff Relays last fall with hundreds of participants from our Tyler and Houston campuses. The College received approval to establish four more research centers and institutes. The Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Institute (AM2I), the Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC), the Center for Smart Agriculture Technology (CeSAT), and the Center for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CeRIS) will join our two existing centers — the Center for Health Informatics and Analytics (CHIA) and the Texas Rural Transportation Research Center (TRTRC).
The College of Engineering continues to advance engineering higher education and research in East Texas and beyond. Remember to follow us on social media through LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter or Instagram.
Go Patriots,
Javier A. Kypuros, Ph.D.
Dean, College of Engineering
