Katie Stone, MEd, has been appointed the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) director,
effective Sept. 1, 2021.
Katie joined UT Tyler in 2016 as the Honors Program coordinator, working with Paul
Streufert, PhD, Honors Program director, and overseeing several initiatives including
Freshman Book, Archer Fellowship, Honors Program Assessment, Global Quiz Night and
the Lyceum.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and a Master of Education degree
in college student personnel. She expects to complete her doctoral degree in human
resource development in December 2021.
As the QEP director, Katie will provide leadership for successful implementation of
our QEP plan, which will focus on enhancing real-world problem-solving learning experiences.
The QEP plan will be implemented in capstone-type courses within undergraduate degree
programs. Katie will also work closely with the college QEP faculty leadership team
and the QEP steering committee, which consists of all stakeholders including alumni
and community leaders.
A QEP pilot will be implemented in fall 2021 when UT Tyler will present its QEP proposal
for submission to SACSCOC as part of the decennial reaffirmation process. This process
precedes the on-site reaffirmation committee visit in March 2022.
