UT Tyler art majors in the university’s first public art/mural painting class are
completing their community project, Dr. Martin Slann, College of Arts and Sciences
dean, announced.
Students will continue working on the mural 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. every Friday at the
Discovery Science Place, a UT Tyler center (located at 308 N. Broadway Avenue in Tyler).
The expected completion date is Friday, May 3. An on-site ribbon cutting ceremony
will be announced.
“This art course provides an exciting opportunity for our students to work as a team
and explore the demands and rewards of art as a community service,” said Alexis Serio,
UT Tyler professor of art and course leader.
The selected topics course lets students expand on painting techniques to support
an exploration into public art and mural painting. It combines historical study and
hands-on learning.
