Human Subjects Research (IRB)
Human Research Protection Program
The UT Tyler Human Research Protections Program (HRPP) is responsible for protecting the rights and welfare of research participants, as well as ensuring excellent scientific research is conducted ethically and in compliance with all federal, state, local regulations and institutional policies.
All human-subjects research conducted by UT Tyler faculty, staff, and/or students on behalf of UT Tyler or its affiliates is overseen by the UT Tyler HRPP department. The following responsibilities are within the scope of the HRPP:
- Institutional Review Board (IRB): Research reviewed by one of three UT Tyler IRBs
- Reliance/Single IRB Review: Collaborative research reviewed by a single IRB (either UT Tyler IRB or a non-UT Tyler IRB)
- Training: The HRPP offers both required and optional training opportunities for researchers and the research community
- Monitoring/Audits: The HRPP works closely with the Compliance and Privacy Programs and its affiliates to identify educational opportunities, implement best practices, and institute systematic improvement
