Dr. Mickie Mwanzia Koster regularly travels to Africa to conduct oral and archival research, and presents her research at national and international conferences.
You will learn from professors who have research interests that span much of the world—from Brazil to Kenya to Ireland. Gain a global perspective with courses that delve into the development of human society, which provides a solid base for a career in education, library science, archival work or government employment.
Participate in the Walter Prescott Webb Historical Society or intern at the Parrott Park and Museum, Smith County Archives and Museum or UT Tyler’s own archives department.

Dr. Matthew Stith teaches courses on Antebellum America and the Civil War era, and thematic classes regarding environmental, borderlands, military, and southern history.
