The mission of the Fisch College of Pharmacy is to serve the East Texas community (patients, caregivers and other health practitioners) by providing quality care as the medication experts. Doctor of Pharmacy students acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to enter practice ready to proceed. The curriculum includes active and team-based learning strategies and hands-on experiences to enhance understanding and retention.

- Extensive Experience: Practice what you’re learning in actual healthcare settings. Starting in the first semester, students begin to apply knowledge gained in the classroom and laboratory to patient care under the supervision of pharmacist preceptors. Many experiences include interprofessional engagement with other health professions students.
- Ready for Licensing Exams: Have the knowledge and confidence you need to pass the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination. The program also prepares you to pass the Federal and Texas laws tested within the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination.

Curriculum
The Doctor of Pharmacy is a 156-credit-hour program that takes four years to complete. The curriculum utilizes student-centered, team-based instruction that is immersive, leading to material mastery and confidence as you begin your career.
Build a comprehensive knowledge base through your coursework, covering everything from foundational science, like biochemistry and physiology, to specialized topics, including oncology and pharmacy law.
Six Introductory and seven Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences place you in supervised clinical settings to apply and observe the impact of theories and concepts learned in the classroom.
During your time at UT Tyler, you prepare to:
- Integrate and apply scientific, social-behavioral and clinical knowledge to make therapeutic decisions and recommendations.
- Develop individualized patient healthcare plans.
- Manage medication use systems to improve healthcare outcomes.
- Promote health and wellness strategies to prevent and manage chronic diseases.
- Integrate population-based data into the development of healthcare plans.

How to Apply
Students qualify for UT Tyler’s Doctor of Pharmacy if they:
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above for all college-level coursework.
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above for all prior college-level coursework in the areas of math and science.
- Have taken all required prerequisite courses and received a grade of "C" or better.
- Can meet the Professional Technical Standards for Admission, Matriculation and Graduation.
Your application consists of the following:
- A completed PharmCAS application.
- Three letters of recommendation from individuals who know you professionally or academically.
- Official transcripts for all college-level work.
- The supplemental application form (included in the PharmCAS application materials).
Submit all materials through PharmCAS.
Additional requirements and procedures apply to transfer and international students.
Review All Application RequirementsFor the 2023-2024 academic year, tuition is $25,006 for your first, second and fourth years in the program. Due to summer requirements, year three tuition increases to $33,376. In-state and out-of-state students pay the same rate, which includes all standard fees and textbooks.

Open to both incoming and continuing students who meet certain criteria, the scholarship provides a 100% reduction in tuition and fees and renews yearly based on merit. Students may qualify for the award each year of their studies.
