Doctor of Pharmacy students acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to enter practice ready to proceed. Starting in the first semester, students begin to apply knowledge gained in the classroom and laboratory to patient care under the supervision of pharmacist preceptors. Many experiences include interprofessional engagement with other health professions students.
• Ready for Licensing Exams: Have the knowledge and confidence you need to pass the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination. The program also prepares you to pass the Federal and Texas laws tested within the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination.

Curriculum

The Doctor of Pharmacy is a 156-credit-hour program that takes four years to complete. The curriculum utilizes student-centered, team-based instruction that is immersive, leading to material mastery and confidence as you begin your career.

Build a comprehensive knowledge base through your coursework, covering everything from foundational science, like biochemistry and physiology, to specialized topics, including oncology and pharmacy law.

Six Introductory and seven Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences place you in supervised clinical settings to apply and observe the impact of theories and concepts learned in the classroom.

During your time at UT Tyler, you prepare to:

• Integrate and apply scientific, social-behavioral and clinical knowledge to make therapeutic decisions and recommendations.
