UT Tyler ACUE Fellows Program

Student success depends on many things, including great teaching, and UT Tyler is dedicated to enhancing the teaching skills of faculty and instructional staff through various professional development opportunities. One initiative is the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) Effective Teaching Practices course, offered through . This program is made possible by The University of Texas System and is endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE).

Certificate in Effective Teaching Practices

Every year, a cohort of UT Tyler faculty complete the Effective Teaching Practices certificate offered through ACUE. This comprehensive 25-module course is designed to enhance faculty skills, leading to increased retention rates, improved student success outcomes, and reduced DFW rates. The Effective Teaching Practices course consists of four digital badges:

Designing Learner-Centered and Equitable Courses
Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Learning Environment

Stackable Credentials

UT Tyler also provides opportunities for faculty to earn individual badges from the Effective Teaching Practices certificate without committing to the year-long course. These badges are stackable, meaning faculty will acheive full certification upon completing all four badges. Badging cohorts are offered on a rotating basis alongside the full certificate cohort.

Fostering a Culture of Belonging

This eight-week course equips administrators, faculty, and staff with actionable practices that can immediately be implemented to contribute to whole-campus reform and ensure all students and colleagues feel seen, heard, and valued. This ACUE course does not apply toward earning the Effective Teaching Practices certification.
