Why did you choose to attend UT Tyler?

After considering other academic institutions, I found the professors in my degree field not only well versed and knowledgable, but also, friendly and personable. Additionally, the student to instructor ratio guaranteed that the learning experience would be better served as the instructor would have better access to each student. UT Tyler is growing and the campus is very relaxing, beautiful, and the classes are within walking distance from each other.

What are your career goals and how does your graduate program support them?

UT Tyler provides a world class education and is associated with the University of Texas System which is recognized internationally. Completing a Master’s Degree in History will strengthen my abilities into the field of International Relations and Education along with the multi-foreign language skills which I already possess from my time in the military. (Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, German, and Vietnamese).

What do you like most about UT Tyler?

My favorite thing is UT Tyler’s picturesque campus in the beautiful woods of East Texas, especially in springtime.

What advice do you have to prospective students at UT Tyler?

To be successful: Treat everyone with dignity and respect. To become a legend: Learn to validate into the lives of others.

The instructors are the gate-keepers to your future and success. Spend time with them. Learn from them and at every opportunity, allow them to critique your assigned work for corrections BEFORE it is due for a grade!
