Program: Nursing Education

Why did you feel UT Tyler’s online nursing program was a good option for you?

I was a graduate of UT Tyler's BSN program so I knew that UT Tyler had a great graduate program that I wanted be a part of and attend. The online program is very convenient for me, and UT Tyler is close enough to home that I can easily stop by the campus if needed. It's really a good fit for me.

Have you been pleased with how it works? How or How not?

I have been very pleased with how the program works. The online format is convenient, and each of the instructors are very accessible and helpful. The program really utilizes current technology to make you feel like you are in class. One of the most interesting aspects of being in an online program is that we get to interact with other nurses from across the nation on a daily and weekly basis.

What are your ultimate goals in terms of degree and career?

After I finish the MSN at UT Tyler, I would like to continue on to the post Masters Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program at UT Tyler. After finishing the FNP program, I would like to pursue a Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP) at UT Tyler as well. Ultimately I would like to teach nursing as well as practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Tyler area.

What is your reaction to U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of UT Tyler as the fifth best online graduate nursing program in the country?

I was really not that surprised, because as a student, I understand the quality of education that UT Tyler provides. I am very proud to be a part of a graduate program that is consistently ranked so high nationally. I'm honored to have been accepted to attend this program.
