Political Science MA

Chris NafradyStudent Name: Chris Nafrady

Program: Political Science

Hometown: Longview, TX

Undergraduate Institution: UT Tyler

Graduation Year: 2016

Why did you choose to attend UT Tyler?

During my undergraduate career I planned to transfer to the University of Texas under the CAP program. After visiting Austin I chose to stay at UT Tyler for my freshman year of college, and eventually decided against going through with CAP.  Since I chose to stay at UT Tyler, I was then able to graduate within three years and transition into the MA Political Science graduate program with the added incentive to work as the Political Science & History Graduate Assistant/Research Assistant.

What are your career goals and how does your graduate program support them?

UT Tyler has provided me the opportunity to learn from some of the greatest Political Science academics. One subfield of the Political Science program that challenged me the most was law. My pre-law courses piqued my interest into eventually going into law school and hopefully open up my own firm. As a Masters student, I am able to continue using the resources that UT Tyler offers to prepare me for such a demanding field.

What do you like most about UT Tyler?

While it took me a couple years to realize it, UT Tyler has so many opportunities on campus. From the student organizations, to the highly accredited professors, to the once in the lifetime opportunities to travel, this university invests in my success.
