How Do I Apply as a Transfer Student?

Whether you’re interested in criminal justice, nursing, business, engineering or another in-demand program, first understand who UT Tyler considers a transfer student and how you’ll apply.

Credit Hours

Apply as a transfer if you’ve earned at least 30 credit hours of college-level coursework.

Cumulative GPA

UT Tyler requires at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA for all completed college-level coursework.

Rolling Admissions

UT Tyler reviews transfer student applications and makes admissions decisions throughout the year.

We keep you on track to graduation — on your timeline. That means few to no repeated courses. And, through our agreements and partnerships with Texas community colleges, you pick up right where you left off, with your previously earned credits fulfilling first-year and sophomore requirements.

A Dedicated Transfer Scholarship

UT Tyler extends our Transfer Scholarship to students directly transferring from another college. No separate application is needed.

Advising

Once enrolled at UT Tyler, you will meet with an adviser every semester to select courses for your major and ensure you meet all graduation requirements.

Honors College

Challenge yourself through expanded major-specific coursework while participating in research or a year-long service- or leadership-oriented project.

Four Locations and Online

Attend courses close to home, whether that’s our main campus in Tyler, Longview University Center, our Palestine location or the Houston Engineering Center. Or, complete your Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences around your schedule through UT Tyler Online.
