Common Business Core courses across all functional areas offer insight into the global marketplace, organizational responsibility and fueling growth. From here, courses in accounting introduce you to essential theories, skills and applications. You’ll learn about corporate financial accounting, reporting, federal tax systems, rules for individuals and businesses, auditing procedures and professional ethics.
Through this approach, plus UT Tyler’s strong liberal arts foundation, all accounting majors:

Reflecting our reputation as one of the most affordable colleges in the state, our financial aid team helps you explore all scholarships, grants and other forms of assistance.
For admissions decisions in general:
- UT Tyler automatically accepts students from the Top 25% of graduating classes in Texas.
- Students from the 2nd to 4th quartiles must have a 2.75 or higher GPA.

UT Tyler has established partnerships with community colleges across Texas, allowing for a seamless transfer of your credits. Our relationships let you stick with your degree plan and graduate on time, right on your schedule.
All individuals meeting UT Tyler’s requirements for high school rank are automatically admitted to the Soules College of Business. From here, you’ll select from one of five majors and proceed through Pre-Business courses before you start the Business Core sequence.
Students not meeting requirements for automatic admission must:
- Apply to the Soules College of Business once reaching their sophomore year, or
- Transfer 30 or more semester hours from an accredited institution with a 2.0 or higher GPA.
