Elisabeth Hooker, MA, LPC, is a native of Louisiana, and what she witnessed after Hurricane Katrina is what began her pursuit of wanting to help others. She saw firsthand how this traumatic event affected people in her community both physically and mentally. After taking a psychology class in high school and having always been fascinated by how the brain works and how resilient people can be after experiencing trauma, she decided to become a licensed professional counselor.

Since completing both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Louisiana Tech University, Elisabeth has worked with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Her areas of expertise and therapeutic focus are cognitive behavioral therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR; part one and two), crisis intervention for children, adolescents and adults; assessment, and diagnosis.

Elisabeth is passionate about educating others on mental health issues and understanding that everyone has a story; and sometimes, people just need someone to listen to that story. She believes that mental health is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It takes a team, and she enjoys being a part of that team.

In her spare time, Elisabeth enjoys being outside, going on walks with her family, and cooking.
