Industrial technology (applied engineering) is a field of study concerned with the application of basic engineering principles and technical skills in support of industrial engineers and managers.
Industrial technology programs typically include instruction in optimization theory, human factors, organizational behavior, industrial processes, industrial planning procedures, computer applications, and report and presentation preparation.
Most starting salaries exceed $50,000 and are competitive with most other engineering fields. In 2012, the median salary for an industrial production manager with a bachelor's degree was $89,190, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
