I am currently working as a Senior Data Scientist for Siemens Sales and Marketing team to improve sales, create an effective marketing strategy, improve customer experience, retain customers, and work on data governance and image data.
How did your Soules College of Business degree help you with your current position?
The degree enabled me to apply technical know-how, and I could choose the path I wanted to work and excel in.
What was your favorite Soules College of Business class, and why?
It’s challenging to select one class; I am torn between Business Intelligence by Dr. Robert Schumaker and Research Methodologies by Dr. A. J Burns and Machine Learning by Dr. Kulkarni.
Any Soules College of Business/ UT Tyler memories you would like to share?
The time spent in the Data Analytics lab working on the research projects and the enlightening discussion with the professors further strengthened the concepts.
Were you involved in any student organizations while a student here?
Yes, I was an active member of the Graduate and Indian student associations. I continued volunteering for various other associations and supporting them in their causes.
What advice would you give current Soules College of Business students?
I would recommend keeping yourself open to feedback on projects and research work, and when in doubt, reach out to your respective faculty, as all of them are excellent. If you need additional support, ask for it, and you will be assisted.
What insight do you have for Soules College of Business students that are about to graduate on how to land their first job?
I recommend that instead of applying to many jobs aimlessly, choose a field that you are interested in and work on projects related to that field and go after those specific opportunities. Treat job searching as a fun project; I know it’s easier said than done, but it certainly will reduce stress and anxiety.
