Tell us a little about you. 

I am from Germany and live with my husband and two kids in the Dallas-Forth-Worth (DFW) area. The military brought us to Texas, and my job brought us to DFW. I enjoy traveling, but I also take pleasure in staycations to experience what the DFW area has to offer.  
 
What did you do right after graduating?  

The Ph.D. in HRD program at the Soules College of Business opened up doors for me to be able to teach at the University of Dallas (UD) before I even graduated. I started working at UD as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Management in the 2018 fall semester, with my defense date set for November 2018. I defended my dissertation as planned and have been with UD ever since. 
 
Tell us about your current job and what you do.  

I am an Assistant Professor of Management at the University of Dallas (UD), where I teach leadership in the Master’s program and statistics in the DBA program. Teaching in the DBA program also allows me to work with students on their dissertations as part of their dissertation committee. I recently had three students defend their dissertations. I am currently the chair for two students and a committee member for four other students. I also coordinate the DBA colloquia that are part of the required monthly residency weekends for DBA students and encompass two-hour research-related presentations. 
 
How did your Soules College of Business degree help you with your current position?  

The courses taught in the Ph.D. in HRD program at the Soules College of Business provided a strong foundation for the knowledge and skills required at my current position. Especially the statistics courses taught by Dr. Nimon, along with the research that we collaborated on, helped me.  
 
What was your favorite Soules College of Business class and why?  

My favorite class was “HRD 6352 Quantitative Research in HRD” in which Dr. Nimon taught us structural equation modeling (SEM) using data we collected based on a theoretical model we wanted to study. In this course, we also learned many skills needed during the dissertation process and any research conducted after that.  
 
Any Soules College of Business/ UT Tyler memories you would like to share?  

I have fond memories of the faculty who are very passionate about their teaching and research that spread to the students. In addition to the classes during residency weekends, I always enjoyed our pot-luck lunches, which allowed me to socialize with my peers and faculty. This was the time plans for research projects were made. I also remember that we were a very close and supportive cohort. We remain in contact with each other to this day.  
 
Were you involved in any student organizations while a student here? 

No, I was not. 
 
What advice would you give current Soules College of Business students?  

Make sure to work with the Soules College of Business’ amazing faculty on some research projects. It will help you learn about the research process first-hand. In addition, having a publication when looking for a faculty position will give you a competitive advantage.   
 
What insight do you have for Soules College of Business students that are about to graduate on how to land their first job? 

My advice is to stay in contact with your peers. They are a valuable network as they can provide references for you and might even be able to provide job opportunities for you.
