About
History
The Soules College of Business began as the School of Business in January 1973. In 1998, The University of Texas at Tyler School of Business Administration was approved for accreditation by AACSB. UT Tyler launched an online Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2000. In 2008, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board authorized the Ph.D. in Human Resource Development program. The Department of Computer Science and Computer Information Systems was added to the College of Business School of Technology in 2014. In 2022, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board authorized the MS in Cybersecurity and Data Analytics in the Computer Science Department. This degree will begin in Spring 2023.
Naming of Soules College of Business
On February 19, 2018 The University of Texas at Tyler announced that it would rename the College of Business and Technology to Soules College of Business. The new name is part of an agreement for John Soules Foods to make a major investment supporting student success at the college.
The investment is the largest single private contribution to the university in its history. The contribution has augmented the university endowment, providing funds in perpetuity for Soules College of Business student scholarships, business innovation grants and research.
Soules College of Business Today
In August 2018, The University opened up the new 140,000-square-foot Soules College of Business. The largest of UT Tyler's six colleges, the Soules College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE), and the Category Management Association.
