Audition Process

The School of Performing Arts welcomes applicants for study as music majors and minors, as well as elective students of all majors in our performing ensembles. For those considering a major or minor in music, please read about our degree plans to learn about our different programs of study.

New UT Tyler Students

It is required that all incoming students, including transfer students, must first apply separately for admission to UT Tyler prior to auditioning for the music department.

Music Majors and Minors

Students who desire to pursue a music major must audition in their specific area of music study. Please complete our online Audition Registration Form. You will automatically be considered for a Music Talent Award as part of your audition. UT Tyler also offers additional academic scholarships for degree seeking students for which you may be eligible. Those who wish to pursue a music minor should contact the professor of their area for approval.

Non-Majors

Non-music majors are welcome and invited to audition for our ensembles and to be considered for Music Talent Awards. To do so, please complete our online Audition Registration Form. UT Tyler also offers additional academic scholarships for degree seeking students for which you may be eligible.
