The University of Texas at Tyler
Welcome to Talon Student Media (TSM), the independent, student-driven media hub at The University of Texas at Tyler!
We take pride in being the “Voice of The Student Body.” At TSM, we’re proud to host a variety of media outlets that provide a platform for creativity and expression. We’ve got it all covered, from the hard-hitting journalism on The Patriot Talon website to captivating narratives in Inspired Minds Literary Magazine, electrifying podcasts and documentaries on our social media pages, trendy DIYs of The Patriot Pulse Lifestyle Magazine, and more!
Our primary goal is to keep the university community informed, entertained, and educated. We strive to maintain high ethical standards in all our work, to ensure fairness, accuracy, and balance in our reporting. TSM is ultimately a public forum where every student’s voice is encouraged and welcomed.
TSM is not just a media outlet. It’s not just about producing content; it’s about fostering critical thinking, teamwork, time management, and leadership skills. Students gain hands-on experience in different media formats, including print, video, podcasting, radio, web, and social media.
No matter your major, TSM is open to all. We want to provide a canvas to unleash your creativity and help you develop critical skills, learn and grow! Through this, we hope to contribute to the media landscape on campus.
Join Talon Student Media today here and be a part of the journey of storytelling, impact, and student empowerment! Help us create waves that resonate far beyond our campus, and leave a lasting legacy of excellence. The Patriot Talon logo

"I’m a Junior at UT Tyler, and serve as the Ex. Dir. for a nonprofit called the Flint & Steel Coalition. I’m a huge believer in the power of community and I think The Talon has the opportunity to unify our student body. I’ve been obsessed with music my whole life so I’m specifically very interested in the underground music scene here in Tyler."
