UT Tyler Students Continue Top Performance on CPA Exam

July 18, 2024 | Hannah Buchanan

The University of Texas at Tyler for 2024 had the second highest CPA exam pass rate among Texas public universities and ranked eighth overall among all state universities. UT Tyler’s pass rate is 53.5%, which is above the national average of 50%.

“Our pass rate has consistently been above the national average for several years, which demonstrates the rigor of our programs, the hard work of our accounting students as well as the dedication of our faculty in providing a quality education,” said Dr. Krist Swimberghe, dean of the Soules College of Business.

The 2024 Uniform CPA Exam consists of three core sections — financial accounting and reporting, regulation, and auditing and attestation. Examinees then select from one of three discipline exams –– business analysis and reporting, information systems and controls, and tax compliance and planning. Candidates for CPA licensure must pass all four sections with a minimum grade of 75% and complete 150 hours of college credit.
