Welcome to the 2015-16 academic year at The University of Texas at Tyler!
We are expecting record enrollment again this fall, and the university has taken several steps to ease the parking problem during the first few weeks of the semester.
We have requested that the City of Tyler temporarily allow parking along Varsity Drive beginning Monday, Aug. 21. The City of Tyler will place bags over the signs in the areas that parking will be allowed. In particular, fire zones, the bus stop and areas immediately adjacent to entrances and exits are still no-parking zones and will be marked accordingly.
Students who live in on-campus housing will be asked to keep their cars in the dedicated campus housing lots during peak parking hours, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
We are allowing students to park in Lot 4 on a temporary basis. Signs posted around campus will help drivers locate some of our hard to find lots, and campus security will direct drivers to lots where parking is available.
These actions were very effective in past years, and we anticipate that they will be equally effective this year.
Parking Tips:
We ask everyone to remember that tight parking at the start of the semester is a sign of a healthy university. Our overflowing parking lots are the direct results of our recruiting and retention efforts and our growing regional reputation.
