School of Medicine

Building a Healthier, Stronger East Texas

The School of Medicine at The University of Texas at Tyler is unlike any other medical school in the nation. As the first medical school in East Texas, we support our community through innovative, groundbreaking medical training designed to spur innovation through research and improve the quality of patient care.

School of Medicine students receive an exceptional education, thanks to our renowned faculty, state-of-the-art facilities and small class sizes. In the process, you’ll learn to address the unique needs of our region, including those of rural and underserved communities. With a projected critical shortage of physicians serving East Texas, we train our students to step up to the challenge and make a real, positive impact. Through community partnerships, engaging research and our relationship with our main affiliate UT Health East Texas and other regional healthcare systems, you’ll become actively involved in improving the quality of life for our neighbors.

More than launching careers, we are here to build a better future together. We invite you to join us.

Degrees and Programs

East Texas deserves a service-oriented healthcare workforce that understands its health challenges and needs. That’s what we aim to support in all School of Medicine programs. In addition to the Doctor of Medicine, programs range from high school experiences all the way to clinical and research-focused graduate and post-graduate education.
