Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - Meta Data

Meta tags play an important roll in how the website performs in search engine rankings.

Title Tags

The title tag is very important for search engine optimization. It is located in the metadata and is required for all HTML/XHTML documents. It is important to display the correct title tag on each page. Each title tag should contain unique title data relevant to the page.

Meta Descriptions, Keywords

The use duplicate meta descriptions can cause the site to perform badly in Google. EACH page should include a specific meta description specifically for the information on that page.

Keep in mind, a compelling, well written meta description will help users click through to your web page.

By accessing  "props" in OU Campus, you can access the meta description easily to update this content.

NOTE: Here is where you will also update your keywords. These are helpful for certain search engines such as Bing. (Limit the characters in your meta description tag to around 150 or so characters and around 300 characters for keywords.)
