Hour Overloads

Students wishing to enroll in more hours than typically allowed must obtain a signature of approval from their dean on a Registration Form. The form must then be submitted to the Enrollment Services Center (STE 230) for processing.

The policies for scholastic loads for both graduate and undergraduate students, as listed in the current Catalog, are listed below.

Undergraduate Maximum Scholastic Load

The maximum credit hour load permitted is 18 semester hours during a fall or spring semester, and 12 semester hours during the summer semester. Students wishing to exceed the maximum credit hour load must obtain permission from the Dean of the College of their major.  (Texas Administrative Code, Title 19, Part 1, Chapter 4, Subchapter A, Rule § 4.6).

Graduate Maximum Scholastic Load

The maximum credit hour load permitted is 12 semester hours during the fall, spring, or summer semester. Students wishing to exceed the maximum credit hour load must obtain permission from the Dean of the College of their major.
