I chose UT Tyler’s Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy for its student-focused curriculum. Having worked in a pharmacy before college, I knew extensive training in teamwork would be the best preparation for my future as a community pharmacist and administrator.

Collaborative, Solution-Focused Education

In the classroom, students work in groups to solve real-world scenarios — an approach that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills. Our state-of-the-art facility, W.T. Brookshire Hall, lends itself to this level of collaboration between students and faculty. Within this scope, students also complete at least two years of prerequisites and one capstone course.

Train to Excel

A third of our curriculum is devoted to professional practice experiences, which start at the beginning of your studies. For the first three years, participate in hands-on training by completing Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) and then complete Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) in your fourth year. Throughout, you apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to a variety of healthcare settings, rotating from hospitals to community clinics. Our more than 1,000 preceptors — practicing pharmacists — share their expertise and prepare you to become an exceptional pharmacist.
