UT Tyler New Patriot Orientation
Students transferring from another institution of higher education or re-entering college have different needs and concerns from first-time college students. UT Tyler has created an orientation program specifically for transfer students and re-entering students to prepare them for life as a Patriot.
When is New Patriot Orientation for transfer students?
New Patriot Orientation for students entering spring 2016 will take place on Jan. 13, 2016. Registration will begin on Oct. 30, 2015.

Will I be getting anything to notify me when registration is available?
All transfer students who have been officially accepted to UT Tyler will receive an email to their Patriots email account inviting them to register for New Patriot Orientation.
If you have not activated your Patriots email account, visit the IT Support website for instructions.
May I bring family members or other guests with me to New Patriot Orientation?
Yes, we hope you will. You may include them with your registration.
Do I need to register in advance for New Patriot Orientation?
Yes. Students and guests can register online.
Will I be advised during New Patriot Orientation?
Advising is not a part of the orientation program. We encourage you to set up an appointment with your academic advisor prior to orientation. During your advising session, you will receive information about academic requirements and obtain clearance to register for courses.
• Transfers with less than 30 credit hours can schedule their advising through the Academic Advising Center

Is New Patriot Orientation mandatory?
New Patriot Orientation is not mandatory for transfer students, but we highly recommend that you attend.
What will I do at New Patriot Orientation?
New Patriot Orientation will provide you with an opportunity to learn about the services and resources available at UT Tyler, meet your department advisors, tour the campus, and complete University business such as getting a parking pass and student ID.
All registered students will receive an email the week prior to their orientation. This email will include a detailed schedule, campus map and information on where to go once you arrive on campus.
You may view the tentative Transfer Orientation schedule online. Please note that an official schedule will be provided during check-in.
