New Graduate Student Orientation

Registration: Step-by-Step

    1. Confirm your eligibility to enroll

      Make sure one of the following is true: you have been admitted/readmitted for the exact term you are registering, or if you are a graduate student, you attended at least one term during the year before the term for which you are registering.
    2. Determine your myUTTyler ID and Password

      Your myUTTyler ID and Password allows you to register for your classes. You should have received an email after you applied that contained your myUTTyler ID and password. If you have lost or forgotten your username/password, contact Graduate Admissions (ogs@uttyler.edu) and they will resend the email. Usernames and passwords cannot be provided over the phone.

      The user id and password for logging into myUTTyler is the user id and password you also use to log into your Patriots email account. Activation of your Patriots email account is required for log in access to myUTTyler . Try logging in using those credentials and if you still experience problems, email the following information to IT Support and they will respond in a timely manner.
      • First and last name
      • Date of birth
      • Student ID

    3. Attend Orientation if you are a new student

      If you are a new student at UT Tyler, Fall orientation is a great place to start. Graduate Student Orientation announcements will be on the Office of Graduate Admissions home page each fall. If you can't make it to orientation in person, we have much of the information available for you in this online orientation.

    4. Meet with your advisor to begin your academic program planning

      Call or email to make an appointment with an academic advisor.

    5. Select the sections of the courses you want to take

      To view/search the schedule of classes, go to myUTTyler.  Look for the Class Search link on the left of the page under Search/Browse Catalog.

    6. Register Online - and register EARLY!

      Complete your registration online at myUTTyler.edu. Here are some helpful instructions from the Registrar's Office.

    7. Make sure you have successfully completed any required prerequisites and are enrolled in any required prerequisite or co-requisites. Check the Graduate Catalog to determine if a course you are registering for has a prerequisite or co-requisite. Prerequisite: a course you must have completed successfully before taking another course. Co-requisite: a course you must take at the same time as another course.

    8. Confirm that the University (myUTTyler) has your correct billing address

      Go to myUTTyler to verify and/or change your address.

    9. Pay your fees to avoid schedule cancellation.

      You must pay your fees by the deadline or you’ll be dropped from your classes. Click here for information on payment and deadlines.

    10. Go to Class

      If you decide not to continue your enrollment for this term (whether classes were attended or not), you must notify the Office of the Registrar to complete the total withdrawal process. ***Do not assume that you will be officially dropped from the class. It is always the responsibility of the student to drop courses.***
