Why did you choose to attend UT Tyler?

After researching almost every PhD program in Texas as well as several other states, and thoroughly analyzing which one was best for me, I felt called to UT Tyler. It seemed like the perfect mixture of quality, cost, and educational focus that I was looking for (and it’s lived up to the expectation!).

What are your career goals and how does your graduate program support them?

I am currently serving as the Senior Coordinator at Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing where I coordinate the senior class (students, clinical placement, courses, and faculty). In the Fall of 2015, I am planning on applying for promotion to Assistant Professor. During the course of the PhD program so far, I have gained skills and attributes that I need in order to be a successful educator and leader. The program has provided opportunities for mentoring, publishing, and simply becoming a better educator and person with a broader view of nursing throughout the world.

What do you like most about UT Tyler?

I have enjoyed almost every minute of the PhD program and highly recommend it to others. Regardless of it being a fully online PhD program, you feel as if you know the faculty and your peers personally. I have developed friendships and professional connections that will outlast the program itself.
