What attracted you to this field?

At the CAC, I am able to be a part of the multi-disciplinary team! This team works together to help the child victim and their families heal following an outcry of sexual or physical abuse. The team includes CAC forensic interviews, family advocates, and therapists, along with local law enforcement, district attorney's office, and SANE nurses. The team approach is found to be effective for our families.

Why did you choose UT Tyler?

To have the option to take specialized classes in child sexual abuse and domestic violence!

What do you like most about UT Tyler?

I found that I could approach any of my professors for guidance and support.

What are your career aspirations?

Continuing to provide therapy to victims of sexual abuse and eventually becoming an LPC Supervisor.

What is your work experience?

Following obtaining my license, I briefly worked at the Behavioral Hospital of Longview. While employed there I provided group therapy and conducted intakes for individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. I was fortunate to receive a call a few months later from the CAC, where I did my practicum as a graduate student, with a job offer to be a full time therapist! I have now been with the CAC for over a year and a half.
