Program: Master's of Science in Computer Science

Hometown: Fort Worth, TX

Undergraduate Institution: The University of North Carolina at Greensboro

Graduation Year: 2013

Why did you choose to attend UT Tyler?

I had been away from home for my undergrad career and it was time to come back home (Texas). Looking at various programs, UT Tyler had faculty members with research in areas that I wanted to study.

What are your career goals and how does your graduate program support them?

I have always wanted to do new and innovative things. I enjoy challenging the status quo of current possibilities. After graduation I plan on continuing to push the limits of innovation to open up new doors in technology. I have been fortunate enough to receive multiple offers to continue research in both academic and industrial settings. My professors have been fully supportive of any idea I bring to them, no matter how wacky or challenging it sounds. They get me started down the right path and encourage me along the way.

What do you like most about UT Tyler?

UT Tyler has allowed me to make my education however difficult I'd like it to be. I'm (obviously) a bit of a nerd but wanted to get as much out of the school as I could. I was pushed to take a more challenging route through my program because the faculty recognized my zeal and encouraged my 'nerdiness' if you will. I was not simply pushed through a program, but pushed to get through.
