STEP: Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification - ONLINE

Prepare to Teach in Texas

The University of Texas at Tyler offers online Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification, known as the STEP program, to help students complete the requirements to teach in a Texas classroom. Before students can teach in Texas, they must fulfill three requirements.

  • Hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Have a minimum overall GPA of at least 2.75.
  • Complete an accredited certification program such as STEP.
  • Pass required state of Texas certification exams.

In as little as 13 months, students can complete this online teacher certification program, fulfilling the second requirement.

The next entry point into the STEP program is Summer 2016.
