Addressing Pressing Educational Issues

Welcome to The University of Texas at Tyler School of Education! The School of Education faculty and students are dedicated to addressing the pressing issues and problems in today's education system such as closing the achievement gap, increasing literacy levels, meeting the unique needs of diverse abilities and language learners, teaching and learning in a 21st century global and technology-rich society, and working to increase the number of teachers in high need areas such as math and science. We have high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs designed to enhance the teaching and learning that occurs in diverse learning environments.

The School of Education's initial education preparation programs in the following certification areas: early childhood through sixth grade, fourth through eighth grade, secondary, and all-level are nationally accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). This recently formed organization is a merger of the two national accreditation providers, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). The School of Education at UT Tyler was granted its initial certification in 2011 by TEAC. CAEP accreditation further validates the quality of UT Tyler's initial education preparation programs, the curriculum, and dedicated faculty. The accreditation also assures the public that the School of Education at UT Tyler prepares competent, caring, and qualified professional educators for the children of Texas. For further information about our accreditation, please view the SOE Accreditation section of our website.
